Dr Peter Long has been associated with T oowoomba Metal Technologies (TMT) in excess of 13 years. During this time, four ownership changes have occurred and the company made the transformation from the manufacturing arm of the Southern Cross Corporation to a 'stand alone' business entity.

Peter is a 'partner' to our business, providing personal support to me in my role as Executive General Manager and has been a competent facilitator in relation to specific and annual strategic reviews and planning.

During the last 10 years, the company reinvented itself and has moved from a domestic to global supplier, with major cultural changes in many areas. Customer service, safety, environment, R&D, product development and technology upgrades were all successful outcomes of the strategic planning sessions. The very successful Toowoomba Wheel Products brand was also launched during this period and export markets to New Zealand, Canada and the USA developed.

Peter's style has been to facilitate and guide, rather than direct, to ensure that the Leadership Team and Supervisors take responsibility for strategic decisions in their areas of responsibility. Customer surveys, problem solving facilitation and HR and management issues were some of the areas covered with Peter. Peter also assisted in our area of social responsibility and the triple bottom line.

Peter's contribution to our growth and success has been greatly valued and appreciated.
